AWD-08 Existent Gum Tester (Jet Evaporation Method)
Product Overview
AWD-08 Existent Gum Tester is a precision oil analyzer manufactured in full compliance with GB/T 8019-2008 and ASTM D381 standards. Utilizing the Jet Evaporation Method, it delivers accurate measurement of existent gum in aviation fuel, motor gasoline, and other volatile distillates (including alcohol‑ether oxygenated fuels and additive‑containing products). This instrument is purpose‑built for standardized existent gum test, offering stable performance, straightforward operation, and highly repeatable results for fuel quality control laboratories, refineries, and inspection bodies. As a dedicated oil analyzer for fuel testing, it fully satisfies the procedural and accuracy demands of ASTM D381 for existent gum determination, supporting reliable existent gum test across various fuel types.
Structural & Performance Features
The evaporation bath of this Existent Gum Tester is constructed from aluminum alloy with an internal spiral air path and pressure equalizing chamber, core to the uniform flow delivery of the Jet Evaporation Method. Compressed air (via air cleaner) or steam (from electric generator) enters the bath, flows through the spiral path, and sprays evenly onto test beakers to ensure consistent evaporation conditions required by ASTM D381. Two measurement ports are fitted for thermometer and thermocouple to enable dual temperature monitoring, critical for stable existent gum test. A pressure gauge and manual control valve are installed at the inlet to maintain specified pressure levels, while a 360° rotatable, height‑adjustable thermometer holder supports flexible temperature checking across test positions. The superheater, made of 3mm stainless steel tubing and integrated with the bath, provides supplementary heating to maintain target temperatures during existent gum measurement, enhancing the stability of this oil analyzer.

Working Principle & Test Modes
Based on the Jet Evaporation Method defined in ASTM D381, AWD-08 performs existent gum test by evaporating volatile fuel components under controlled temperature and airflow, leaving non‑volatile existent gum residue for gravimetric analysis. It supports two test modes:
Steam Jet Mode: Bath temperature 232–246℃, steam pressure 0.12–0.18MPa, superheater >100℃
Air Jet Mode: Bath temperature 160–165℃, air pressure 0.062–0.09MPa, no superheater needed
This dual‑mode design makes the Existent Gum Tester highly adaptable for diverse existent gum test scenarios as a professional oil analyzer.
Temperature Control System
The instrument employs a high‑precision digital temperature controller for stable thermal control essential to Jet Evaporation Method and ASTM D381 compliance. PV displays actual bath temperature, SP shows set value; automatic constant temperature control activates 5 seconds after setting. PID self‑tuning functions optimize heating performance for improved accuracy in existent gum detection. Factory‑calibrated parameters eliminate complex user adjustment, simplifying existent gum test operation for this oil analyzer.
